Boys' soccer player Jack Carey and girls' tennis player Ellie Kim have been named the Student-Athletes of the Month for September.

Carey is in his senior year and has served as a captain for his team this fall. He has been a part of the defense that has led the charge for the boys this season.

In the classroom, Carey is taking four college in high school courses and has a cumulative GPA of 4.09 during his time at North Hills.

Kim, a freshman, lost only one singles match all season and finished third in the section. She competed in the WPIAL Singles Championships and is set to play in the WPIAL Doubles Championships as well. Despite her age, has shown great composure, even in the biggest matches.

When Kim is not on the court, she watches and encourages her teammates. She also thrives in the classroom, as she has four honors classes on her schedule and had straight A's in the month of September.

Among the many great things Coach Myers saw this season, she was most impressed by "the talent and drive of Ellie Kim."
