Over the weekend, juniors Kayden Lightner and Gama Mogire competed in the PIAA Track Championships.

Mogire competed in the 110-meter hurdles, while Lightner ran in the 800-meter dash. Both boys qualified for the meet with second-place finishes at the WPIAL Championships last week.

For Kayden, expectations were high as he went into the state meet ranked fourth in the 800-meter. In a loaded field of competitors, he was able to pull out a second-place finish. With a time of 1:51.35, he was within one tenth of a second of the gold medalist.

Congratulations to both Kayden and Gama on qualifying for the PIAA Championships, and congratulations to Kayden on his silver medal!
