Though the North Hills boys varsity tennis players lost to Canon McMillan 0-5, the score does not reflect the efforts and perseverance of the team. Three matches were so close they could have swayed in North Hills direction. 

Othmane Eljoufri stepped up to the second singles position though his normal roster spot is 3rd singles or 1st doubles. After falling in the first set 1-6, Othmane gained his momentum and came back to tie in the second set. He fought a tough tiebreaker, but the North Hills sophomore eventually lost 2 points to 7 to Canon Mac's 2nd singles junior, Will O'Bryan.

At first doubles, Gavin Shomaker and Hayden Vollbrecht lost their first set 4-6, but came back in the second with a score of 6-4 to split sets. The sophomore pair lost their third set to Canon Mac's juniors, Austin Abbott and Chase Sloan. 

After waiting for a court to open, the second doubles team of sophomores Riley Farrar and Max Yamada got right to work. They lost the first set in a lengthy back and forth battle by a score of 4-6. The team did not give up, though, even though they were over an hour and a half in to the match. Again, Riley and Max went head to head in the second match to a tied set score of 6-6. After over two hours of playing time, the boys fell to Canon McMillan's juniors, Tyler Richmond and Kevin Yu by a tiebreaker score of 2-7.

Though the team has struggled with wins this season, they have shown tremendous progress and are looking forward to working during the off-season and coming back as an experienced team in the spring of 2024.
