The North Hills 9th grade boys basketball team proved it's good to be home.
After losing the season opener Friday at North Allegheny, North Hills came back Monday and won its home opener with a 53-38 victory against Hampton.
After falling behind by 17-10 after the first quarter, North Hills came back and tied the game, 23-23, at halftime. Behind some hot shooting from Jackson Long, North Hills took control of the game when it outscored Hampton, 19-8, in the third quarter. Long scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the third quarter.
Nathan Schanbacher came through for the Indians with 14 points while Aaron "Hammer" Loritts and Ethan Guszczynski added six each.
North HIlls' defense held Hampton to 15 points in the second half.
North Hills is back at it one day later. The Indians play at home again Tuesday against Butler. Game time is 3:30 p.m. at the Senior High.
