A fourth-quarter surge helped the North Hills 9th grade boys basketball team power to another win.

North Hills took to the road Tuesday to play Avonworth. North Hills led by only three points at halftime and by four after three quarters. But North Hills came on strong in the fourth quarter to post a 48-35 victory. The win lifted North Hills' record to 15-2.

North Hills outscored Avonworth, 15-6, in the fourth quarter. Five different players scored in the final quarter - Jackson Long, Mike Waters, Joey Lutz, Nathan Schanbacher and Ethan Guszczynski. Waters and Lutz both hit 3-pointers.

Schanbacher finished the game with 14 points, making 8 of 10 free throws. Long had 11 and Gusczynski 6.

North Hills is next in action Wednesday night in our big "7-8-9 Night." It will be a tripleheader at "The Palace" in the Middle School, the same place the varsity plays. This is the third annual "7-8-9 Night," an event that usually draws a nice crowd. Come on out and see the future of North Hills basketball.

The 7th grade plays Hampton at 5:30, the 8th grade plays Hampton at 6:30 and the 9th grade plays Shaler at 7:30.
