The season came to a close this past Friday for the North Hills 9th grade boys basketball team, and it was a grand finale for a season to remember.

North Hills jumped to a 27-point halftime lead and cruised to a 67-49 victory against Peters Township at the North Hills Senior High School gym.

North Hills finished the season with a 19-2 record. It is the most wins for the freshman team in at least a few decades. North Hills lost the season opener, won 13 in a row, lost a game and then finished the season on a six-game winning streak. Of North Hills' 19 wins, 13 came by double digits.

Against Peters Township, all 12 North Hills players scored. Nathan Schanbacher led with 16 points and Alex Walker was next with eight. North Hills was ahead by 42-15 at halftime.

The win came a few days after North Hills raced past Shady Side Academy, 60-34.

Congratulations to this 9th grade team on a fantastic season. Members of the team were Kelly McCarthy, Luke Cauldron, Amir McFadden, Jackson Long, Mile Waters, Colton Nelson, Joey Lutz, Alex Walker, Nathan Schanbacher, Aaron Loritts, Chris Jenkins and Ethan Gusczynski.
