North Hills tennis player's Ellie Kim and Anna Tikhomirova competed in the Class AAA, Section 2 singles tournament on September 14 and 15. As the number 2 seed, freshman Ellie Kim defeated her first two opponents, senior Anna Winland from Seneca Valley and senior Lily Hynds from Pine Richland with 10-0 scores. 

Ellie was then faced with her highest seeded opponent of the day in the semifinals, in a best of 3 sets format. After many hard-fought rallies, North Allegheny's senior Emily Wincko's experience proved to be an advantage as she upset Kim 5-7, 3-6.

After an exhausting day of tennis, Ellie returned on Thursday to compete for 3rd place in the section. Despite falling in the first set 2-6 to sophomore Kendall Kirkland from Pine Richland, Kim maintained her composure and battled back to win the second set in a tiebreaker (7-6, T8-6). Several hours after the match began, Ellie earned 3rd place in the section with a 6-3 win in her final set. 

As a result of her accomplishments in the section Kim will compete in the WPIAL section 2, class AAA tournament on Wednesday, September 21. Congratulations and good luck, Ellie!
