Sophomore and co-captain Elinor Kim earned 3rd place in the competitive WPIAL Class 3A, Section 2 singles tournament for Girls' Tennis. The tournament started at noon on Wednesday, September 13 when Ellie won her first two matches against senior Killie McElhinney from Seneca Valley and sophomore Deeya Nayyar from Pine Richland with 10-0 scores. 

Ellie then faced senior Lacticia Tici-Wessel from North Allegheny and she won the first match 6-3. She fought hard in the next set, but fell by a score of 1-6. About 5 hours in to the tournament, Ellie lost the 3rd set to Wessel by a score of 1-6. 

The following day, Kim was faced with senior opponent Kylie Staudt from Seneca Valley in a match for 3rd and 4th places in the section. Staudt showed her experience and athleticism, but Ellie was able to overcome her opponent's strengths and won the match 6-0, 6-0. 

Ellie will compete in the singles WPIAL tournament on Wednesday, September 20th. Good luck, Ellie! You have made North Hills proud!
