Down to seven players because of various reasons, the North HIlls 9th grade team got back on the winning track Tuesday when it defeated visiting Avonworth, 46-40, at the Senior High gym.
North Hills got a big effort from its big man - Mason Giesey, who scored a team-high 15 points, nine in the second half. Jack Broderick added 10, Austin Ellis 8 and Micheal Murphy 8.
The win came after a 49-29 loss to Fox Chapel last Friday. North Hills had only six players for that game.
North Hills is next in action Thursday at North Catholic.
